Craft Victoria is like a non-stop local craft promoting machine. NO sooner does one market / workshop / exhibition / installation end, than another begins! You may have noticed that August is a particularly busy month in the Craft Vic calendar though... and that's because this month is all about Craft Cubed, Craft Victoria's biggest annual festival.
The lineup is particularly epic this year - including over 50 public programs, satellite exhibitions and my personal favourite - Open Studios! This Saturday, many art, design and craft studios across Melbourne will be open to the public... including Philip Stokes' amazing new glass workshop in Cremorne (ie Richmond).
There's cute craft, and then there's serious 'I couldn't make that at home' and 'this actually seems kinda dangerous' craft... and THAT is why Phillip Stokes studio is my top pick this Saturday! However there are also many other studios open if you are after something a little less fiery! The full line-up is listed over here.
