This week on the Guest Blog - required Reading with Perimeter Books

Melbourne's newest independent bookshop Perimeter Books has been well documented here... (and, with good reason, in pretty much every online publication in Melbourne!).  As I'm sure you all remember, the clever couple behind Perimeter Books are my dear friends Justine Ellis and Dan Rule.

Justine and Dan are a SERIOUSLY multi-skilled and super motivated  team!  Dan is a respected local writer - he's an arts columnist for The Age and writes for a host of other publications.  Justine works at Michi Girl and also at much-loved Brunswick fashion boutique Monkhouse. This busy creative pair also publish independent titles under the name And Collective. This year, as if they weren't already busy enough, Dan and Justine took their love affair with independent publishing one step further by opening their amazing retail bookshop!  Agghhh.  It makes me tired just LISTING this insane amount of extra curricular activity!

As I am sure you can imagine,  Dan and Justine certainly know a thing or two about books.  Their specialty is independent titles, artists’ books, indie design mags and small press publications that you simply will not find anywhere else in Melbourne.  Dan sources all the amazing obscure arty titles and quirky  international zines.  Justine keeps it colourful by insisting on pretty picks such as Ebony Bizys' Hello Sandwich zines, and Meg Mateo Ilasco‘s wonderful stationery line (I think she totally twisted Dan's arm on that one).

THIS WEEK we are super lucky to have a week of vicarious bookshop browsing, with Perimeter Books' 'Required Reading' on the Guest Blog!  Dan and Justine have handpicked their favourite titles and will share the most beautiful selection of books with us each day this week!  They'll cover a variety of themes - including Small Press and Zines, Photo Books, Design and Architecture, and my personal fave - JAPANESE PUBLISHING!  *Hyperventilating already!*

Dan and Justine have also generously offered an incredible Perimeter Books giveaway!  One lucky Design Files reader will win a prize pack valued at $89.00, containing the following -

1 x  Mateo Ilasco Ikat notebook 1 x This Is The Same Ocean (local small press publication) 1 x Blexbolex Dogcrime (a Nobrow publication) 1 x Antony Gormley Memes 1 x Miguel Vagalume Paisajes Verticales

To be in the running, simply check out the Guest Blog this week, and leave a comment on any Guest Blog post between now and 10.00pm this Thursday July 28th. A winner will be selected at random and contacted this Friday!
