De Clieu, Gertrude st Fitzroy
Details details - fantastic industrial light fittings, and the prettiest spring Dogwood blossom

OK so I don't want anyone thinking that Gertrude st Fitzroy gets my attention all the time... I realise I just blogged the gorgeous new Mud Store etc...  but, what can I do?  I can' t help it if cool stuff keeps popping up here!

Gertrude street's latest resident is De Clieu - the newest cafe from Melbourne coffee gurus Mark Dundon and Bridget Amor, whose other excellent establishments include Seven Seeds, Brother Baba Budan, and previously St Ali (now under new management).  There are rave reviews all over the interwebs already... never has there been a more highly anticipated coffee shop in our caffeine-crazed city!

De Clieu seems a little more refined that Dundon's usual ventures - ie a slightly more pared back look, less plywood(!), and amazingly, no exposed light globes  :)  Not that I don't love a bare lightglobe but it's always nice to see something new!  Six Degrees designed the fit-out, so not surprisingly, it's lovely.  Best bit is the inside / outside ledge seating.  ALSO TDF favourite Beci Orpin designed the nautical-esque identity and business cards.  They're circles!  That's enough to win me over.

The only thing is, everyone I know is calling this place 'Seven Seeds on Gertrude st' because no one seems to know how to pronounce De Clieu, (me included).  Maybe someone will enlighten me with a phonetic explanation!?

Inside / Outside ledge seating is a winner.  Especially with cute girls perched on it.
