Rex Dupain has been watching the evolution of Bondi Beach for over 20 years. A place that is both an integral part of the daily routine and landscape for locals, as well as a tourist hot-spot and reality television star, Bondi Beach sees a diverse cross-section of people every day.

Known for his thoughtful observations of Sydney and its beach people, Rex Dupain’s latest exhibition , ‘Sunscreen Celebrities’, presented by the ACP, Waverley Council and Michael Reid Sydney, takes him from Bondi to shores around the world; Sorrento, Barcelona and Coney Island. Gaining new perspective and uncovering coastal subcultures in Australia and beyond, Rex captures beach-goers in the natural element – with sand, concrete and pebbles underfoot, responding to the beach worlds around them.

Collected and exhibited internationally, Rex has been a finalist in the Art Gallery of NSW’s Sulman, Archibald, and Wynne prizes.
