On Saturday August 19th and Sunday 20th, hundreds of potters and ceramic artists around the Australia will open their studios to the public for Australian Ceramics Open Studios (ACOS). Now in its fifth year, the event seeks to spotlight the diverse practices of Australian creatives working today in clay.

Hosted by The Australian Ceramics Association, the diverse program encompasses workshops, demonstrations, talks, and opportunities to purchase original ceramics from potters located in suburban backyards, inner city co-operatives and rambling rural settings, across Australia.

The Australian Design Centre in Sydney will also run a free pop-up studio on Saturday August 19th from 10am to 4pm. Ceramicists Roy Chandra of  Snow Monkey Pottery and Janine Flew will be in the gallery showcasing ceramic techniques and sharing their knowledge of both traditional and contemporary pottery using stoneware and porcelain.
