Friday, September 24, 2010 This elegant wedding is absolutely beautiful, full of inspiration and I love every part of it – much like this whole week with Georgie!! A big thanks to Georgie and the ladies at Georgeous, it’s been a wonderful week! – Jenny x

I know! Isn’t this the sweetest table ever?! So delightful.

A simple and rustic country wedding styled by Georgeous is no less elegant than any other. In this fast paced world we are all bombarded with options, for anyone planning a wedding this is magnified. Sometimes it is forgotten that the most charming things are the simplest and what separates a good designer from a great one, is restraint.

Above left – The bride’s inspiration for the day Above right – Cake!! We really need a week dedicated to cakes!
The bride had a very strong vision for her wedding, but a lack of time to organise it all. Georgeous takes a vision of a dream wedding and makes it happen, ensuring it is unique and personal.
The bride wanted this to be a very family orientated day – black and white photographs of family members’ wedding days were arranged around the wedding cake, and children were made honorary photographers, given their own disposable cameras and task list of scenes to capture; ‘the brides shoes’, ‘the flower in the groom’s jacket’.
On a rusty wrought iron gate outside the tiny church, glass jars fastened with twine held bunches of fresh flowers. These are the special little touches that Georgeous loves, believing that when you have a life uncomplicated, wholesome and full of love, “life is good”
I hope you’ve enjoyed this week as much as I have!

Thursday, September 23, 2010 When I first saw today’s guest blog, I thought I was looking at a scene from a Hollywood movie! The Georgeous team converted this everyday multi-storey carpark into a glamorous, exciting venue for the launch party of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. Fabulous! – Jenny x

Georgeous had an extraordinary duty; to grant opulence and glamour to an inner city car park… for just one night. At the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week launch party guest’s imaginations were set aflutter in the bejewelled urban cave.
Painting upon a concrete canvas allowed Georgeous to prove the breadth of styling ability. To do this Georgeous hunts out inspiration with gusto and in such a competitive vocation, this is a must – it is simply not enough to do the same thing better. Scouring the local community for great suppliers, materials and exceptionally talented designers, artists and crafts people, Georgeous pushes creative boundaries everyday.

Melbourne carpark beautifully made over for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week!

Kristina Sandström, from Skapa Bilda, Ally Pops, Visual Merchandising students from RMIT and Dann Event Hire were called upon to help deliver a very fashionable and contemporary occasion in a very raw and edgy environment.

Wednesday, September 22, 2010 Another splendid day with Georgie! Today we get a look at a few of Georgeous’ special events. Cheese lunches, Portsea Polo and one garden shed converted into a very cute cafe on wheels! Delightful! – Jenny x

Celebrations of cheese in the middle of a paddock, the rustic Portsea Polo occasion, Arteveneta with 50 of your closest friends and a touch of Spring Carnival fever…These are a few of our favourite things…

Sometimes it’s the small and simple touches that bring an occasion to life. Take for example hay bails for seats, an embroidered napkin as a gift for guests, or just a collection of your favourite flowers in an old tin or glass jar. It’s these small touches in unexpected places that give each occasion a story. Steering guests from a pre-drinks location to their seats for lunch is all part of the fun when styling for any Georgeous occasion.

When Georgeous has a few moments, there’s no twiddling of fingers – quite the opposite, that’s when little inventions are born. Having spent many hours setting up at various trade exhibition shows, Georgeous wondered why there were so many rumbling tummies? So what do you get when you combine the trading post, a simple idea and lots of hungry industry colleagues? Minnehaha! Minnehaha is a transformed old garden shed with a splash of paint and some very delicious quick bites served up for the hungry hoards at various events! Since Minnehaha made its’ debut it has transformed from corporate occasion to a children’s garden show, feeding the crowds where ever it goes.
Can we get anyone a crusty baguette?

Tuesday, September 21, 2010 Who doesn’t love a wedding?! I’m off to one this weekend, and today’s guest blog from Georgie has made me even more excited! Beautiful flowers, inviting table settings and the special couple at the very centre of the day. Perfection! – Jenny x

How amazing are these cakes?! By Julie Gunthorpe

Queen Vic Markets converted into a delightfully bright wedding venue
Just like every little girl, when Georgeous first discovered her love of weddings she opened an old shoe box and began to fill it with cut out photographs of wedding dresses, bits of ribbon, string and lace material and a set of vintage crockery she was once given.
Nowadays that shoebox is a small yellow folder perched on her computer desktop entitled…“My dream wedding.” Luckily for Georgeous, almost every weekend is another version of this dream wedding! With a new beau and bride each time, every style is so personal and individual and yet Georgeous still manages to add a few minor touches from her old shoe box.

It is somewhat of a blessing that each bride and groom to walk through the Georgeous doors have their own beautiful story, on how they became an “us”, and therefore also have their own dream wedding.
Georgeous finds it a thrill to peek into new and quirky unknown spaces and venues – places with walls that one would never guess would hear the words “I do”. When Georgeous recently heard a bride express a love for all things food, her ears pricked and her mind wandered into the very Melbourne, very raw and very unexpected ceremony space inside Queen Victoria Markets.

LOVE the old family photos behind the bridal table. Floral arrangements by Cecilia Fox
Georgeous loves vintage and rustic, simple touches like a piece of brown string wrapped around Grandma’s vintage napkins gives the sweetest touch. And don’t leave out Grandpa…I’m sure if you ask nicely he would lend you his old suitcase to fill with love letters and a flower or two…or ten?

Monday, September 20, 2010 What a dreamy way to start an exciting week! Georgie Kay of Georgeous is here all week sharing some of her favourite projects aiming to inspire us and show us some amazing styling trends. Hold onto your hats as today we fall Down the Rabbit Hole… – Jenny x

“AWWW!” was the word on everybody’s lips at the grand opening lunch at The Blackman Hotel (part of the Art Series Hotels including The Cullen and The Olsen). Lewis Carroll’s wonderland stirred the imagination of artist Charles Blackman – now it was Georgeous’ time to follow that little white rabbit down to a land where left is right, down is up and styling is unconventional!

Love the cute touch of button mushrooms!
A moss table runner was the foundation for a garden of peculiar delights, which ran the length of the 10-metre table. An animated scattering of colourful flowers, teacups, porcelein bunnies, mushrooms and other vintage bits and pieces created a beautiful chaos.
Another two of Georgeous’ favourite suppliers, Empire Vintage and Arteveneta helped to deliver a whimsical and enchanting occasion that took all on a wonderful and eclectic adventure.
Excuse me while I have a cup of tea with the Mad Hatter…
