Bride&Wolfe · The Mesh Series

We’re big fans of Melbourne homewares brand Bride and Wolfe, run by local designer Miranda Moreira.  We’re particularly fond of their Circle Shelves, and quirky collection of coloured mirrors, both of which featured at our Open House event in Melbourne last year.

Bride and Wolfe’s latest offering is The Mesh Series  – another instant favourite!

It’s been a busy year since we last caught up with Miranda Moreira of Bride and Wolfe.  She’s spent the past twelve months developing three diverse new product ranges, including ‘The Mesh Series’ – an eye-catching collection of wall mounted shelf units, made from perforated steel mesh in a range of brilliant colours. We love them!

The Mesh Series is an extension of Bride and Wolfe’s popular Circle Shelves.  ‘I wanted to created a ‘backdrop’ or ‘frame’ with which to display vases of fresh flowers, candles and greenery’ says Miranda.  Available in an impressive variety of shapes and colours, they are a robust and surprisingly versatile piece, perfect for space saving storage in a tiny bathroom, to hold keys and trinkets in an entrance hall, or as a focal point in a kids space or master bedroom. As with most of the Bride and Wolfe range, they are made in Melbourne.

‘Like almost everything I make, these are a locally produced product, and can only really be achieved to this standard through the close relationship I have with ‘my guys’- the local makers I work with’ says Miranda. ‘They understand my obsessive need for refinement!’.

A bold and contemporary departure from her usual designs, Miranda’s initial inspiration for The Mesh Series came from an unexpected source – a painting.  ‘I’m an art nerd, I studied Fine Arts, and my thesis was on the work of German artist Sigmar Polke‘ explains Miranda. ‘One of his paintings in particular (‘Konstructivistisch’, 1968 ) plays with texture and geometry in a way I’ve always loved.  It was the starting point for this series’.

Miranda is looking forward to the year ahead, with big plans afoot!  ‘2015 is my first year of planned growth’ she says.  ‘I’ve developed a strong, diverse product range and now have the production in place to support larger orders  – so I’m very excited to be doing my first Life In Style trade fair in Sydney this month!’.  Bride and Wolfe will be at stand 2184, near the Style Lab, at Life in Style in Sydney, Feb 19th – 22nd.

The Mesh Series can be purchased online here – prices start at $195.
