After crossing the Torugat Pass we entered the lush green land of Krygyzstan. Being over 95% mountainous it makes for some truly epic scenery. Add yurts, Kyrgyz nomads and livestock everywhere, and you've got yourself a pretty stunning combination.

If you love the outdoors, horse riding, trekking and/or felt, Kyrgyzstan is a must visit. One thing we particularly loved was being able to stay in yurts and the homes of locals - which not only gave us an authentic experience, but it financially helped our hosts too.

Felt shyrdaks (felt carpets used as floor coverings in the yurts)

We also had the opportunity to learn to make felt the traditional Kyrgyz way, which was a real treat. Leaving Kyrgyzstan was hard, and is hands down one of the most beautiful countries we have had the honour of visiting.
