Hello Design Files readers,

I'm thrilled to be a guest here this week - many thanks Lucy and Jenny for the invitation.

I'm just about to launch a little website called Ojoli. It's a site to visit for event styling concepts, decor & gifts. I designed Ojoli to offer Australian (and international) consumers a 'Brooklyn Flea market' meets 'Donna Hay Store' online experience.

Prior to marrying my farmer husband, I work in the PR & Events industry. Like many creatively minded people though, I always found that I was more interested in creating and bringing to life event concepts (rather than trying to fill up the guest list with VIP's!)

So this week I have come up with five different concepts. Starting with ideas from 'before the big day' through to the 'nesting newbies' stage of life.

Blue and White Collections Tea Party

This idea really stemmed from something that my beautiful sister (& maid-of-honour) organised for me before my own wedding.  I'm a little prudish when it comes to male strippers and penis straws,  so instead she organised a 'kitchen tea'. Carrying on from this idea, I thought a party that helped a bride-to-be start her own mismatched blue and white collection might be an idea. It's a fail safe traditional design combination, but the look can certainly be updated with modern pieces.

The drawing is just of a garden shed - I thought it would be a quaint backdrop for this sort of occasion.

Shots of pink and cobalt blue glass can certainly help modernise this look. I love the 'Blue Prints' series that Lightly and Samantha Parsons collaborated to design. They are a beautiful modern collectable that can complement any existing collection.

ps. Other than the blue glassware, all of the items featured here will available from Ojoli very soon!
