Point Piper Apartment

6 months have passed, the dust has gone and the Clients have now moved in. It is a moment of exhilaration and sadness as we now have to hand the keys over to the Client as the baby has just been delivered.

Oh my!

The Client has a great eye for artwork, furniture (Fornasetti everywhere), Memphis glass and the combination of our design mixed with their treasures is a joy to see.

The simple elegant and chic black and white kitchen with concealed 'paysheenay' lilac interior and linoleum floor.

Our dining table takes pride of place in the dining room as does the B&B Italia outdoor setting on the new balcony.

Too much pink...... I think not.... fit for a Princess and her husband.

Hand made wallpaper from de Gournay printed in 'Art Deco Monkeys' sits as a backdrop to the boy's bedroom. We designed a cotton velvet (chocolate brown lining) fitted bedspread that fits snugly onto the king single bed. A future office desk inset in linoleum and Knoll pin-board fabric over complete the space.

The ensuite fit for a young Prince.

Birds Eye Maple timber for the master bedroom wardrobes and credenza with aubergine internal carcass and felt drawers.

Such a calming and charming bedroom

Rozelle House

The orange joinery box has now been inserted to the house and serves as both functional device and theatrical backdrop to a ground floor steel and timber addition.

Commercial grade sliding doors (three leaves) stack back to the West and North, opening the house up to an outdoor room with fixed overhead sunshade structure to protect the western facade.

Deep bronze steel balustrade to the staircase complements the stained walnut floor with a long linear credenza unit under the staircase. An abundance of operable glass louvres add to the effect of opening up the northern facade to the terraced lawn and clipped hedges.

Quirky 'Cupco' artwork located above the dining room credenza hint at the Client's heritage while saturated cobalt and turquoise reveal themselves when doors are slid back to access laundry and bathroom.

Simple full height gloss white metallic joinery that act as feature walls to an otherwise all white room conceal the 'Pomegranate' colour that lies within when drawers are opened daily.

The master bedroom with 'Kenzo' sheets, Knoll bed-head fabric and purpose designed bed with drawers under provide a quiet area of retreat for the couple.

Open the wardrobe door and step into the ensuite with full height clerestory windows (no mechanical ventilation), simple vitrified wall tiles and light blue glass mosaic tiles to the shower.

The buddhist priest blessing family, friends and the house while the Architect has to hand over the keys yet again with some reluctance but great pride in knowing that it's in good hands.

The Client promised a BBQ out on the new steel table we designed before the week's end, so happy Architect and happy Client.

Thank you The Design Files it's been an absolute blast doing this amongst Contractors, Clients and budgets... we wonder why we are not bald as a badger!

What can we say other than it's been a great delight and remember as Aunty Mame once quipped....'Yes! Live! Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!'

- Scott

Thank YOU Scott and Gregory!
