Ahh, eating and drinking - isn't that what most trips away revolve around?! Today we get the tour of the must visit eateries and drinkeries of Mudgee, each and every one has undergone vigorous taste testing by Briar and her good husband - thanks guys! - Jenny x

If you are familiar with my blog, you will know how much I enjoy my food. It’s no secret that Mudgee is a top destination for wine and food lovers. I’m no wine connoisseur (I leave that up to my husband), so I just decided to travel around town and check out my personal favourites.

The Butcher Shop Cafe (above) is a bit of a Mudgee institution - and it’s where you will probably find the local winemakers getting their coffee fix. It’s just started to turn in to a Thai restaurant on Friday and Saturday nights too. Chef Yumi makes a fine Red Duck Curry.

Rajarani is a restaurant a long way from India, but it offers some of the best food around. I always make time for a glass of bubbly at Roth’s Wine Bar too. Mudgee is famous for it’s wine, but it’s beer is getting up there lately. I’m a fan of the wheat variety from Mudgee Brewing Company. I also picked up a bottle of my favourite sticky, Tinja Botrytis Semillon from the cellar door at Lowe Wine.

Two things I always bring back to Sydney is a bottle of olive oil from di Lusso Winery and a jar of the delicious Fetta from High Valley Wine & Cheese Co.

Last but not least, it’s always hard for me to get past the Logan Wines ‘1000 Mile Cheese Plate’ - consisting of all local produce. So good. Wow, now I’m hungry.

See you tomorrow. I’ll be taking you all shopping, country style.
