Vintage Floral Bunting by Made by Mosey
Our mid week Craft Hatch profile comes care of beautiful local label Made by Mosey. We first saw the Made by Mosey products about 12 months ago and have been itching to get our hands on one of the mobiles ever since. The range is made by hand with love and care by Madeleine Sargent in Melbourne Australia. Being a mother of two, Madeleine is an expert in all things soft, cute and cuddly. While many of her products are inspired by her two young children, her nostalgic home wares have proven equally popular with adults. Like most things you will find at the Craft Hatch Market, no two of her products are identical, being entirely handmade, each is unique. We spoke to Madeline about the Made by Mosey range. "My range includes mobiles, bunting and quilted blankets made from handkerchiefs. For the mobiles, I use a mix of all new 100% cotton and organic cotton fabrics. For the bunting and the quilted handkerchief blankets it’s all vintage and second hand cotton fabrics. I source the twigs for the mobiles from my uncle’s property in the Strathbogie Ranges; it’s about 2 and a bit hours north of Melbourne. A great little getaway!

Some of Madeleine's delightful mobiles- I've got my eye on the grey clouds!
Whilst mobiles are usually associated with baby’s nursery’s, I truly believed when I started that they could appeal to grown ups too. Feedback and sales have proven this to be correct! The mobiles are made from a mix of all new 100% cotton and organic cotton fabrics. The bunting and blankets are all created from pre-loved vintage and second hand cotton fabrics. I have been making ‘things’ since I was little but it’s only in the last year and a half that I have turned this compulsion into a business. I am inspired heavily by nature and nostalgia. My children are ridiculously creative and trigger all sorts of new ideas. Otto my eldest is hanging off my back in the pic below! I like to read blogs from other clever and crafty folk. My workspace also contains owl wood blocks by good pal Darren Henderson. The letters were made by my husband, Andy Sargent. He inspires me always.
How gorgeous! Madeleine and Otto!

Glimpe of what's being worked on in Madeleine's studio!

The mobiles come in cloud, boat, butterfly, lovebird and kite designs and will be available to purchase at Craft Hatch for $55 each. The bunting is sold in 3 metre lengths of unique designs, and is available for $40.

I hope to see you at the Craft Hatch Market!' Madeleine has a lovely blog just here and if you can't make it to Craft Hatch Madeleine has an Made By Mosey Etsy Store too. Thanks Madeleine! The Craft Hatch Market will be held at on Saturday 23rd of October at The State Library of Victoria from 11am-4pm. - Pip x
