Hello lovers! Thanks for popping back today! So, if your looking blankly into your computer screen thinking ‘Stripes!! What is this girl on? That’s not a new up and coming fashion trend!’. Well, yes, you are right, it’s not new but I think its one of the most timeless, chic and most reoccurring trends that you can look back on in years to come and not immediately think ‘oh my! What the hell was I thinking when I put that on?!’. Stripes are classic and were owned by the most beautiful women of old Hollywood. Looking back in the history of chic, stripes make me think of  ladies like; Audrey Hepburn, Bridget Bardot, Edie Sedgewick, Coco Chanel, Jean Seberg, Twiggy and the most amazingly beautiful Francoise Hardy. These ladies have helped make stripes what they are today, giving them a classic status which makes girls like us feel a million dollars when wrapped in them. They make me feel like mindlessly meandering with a croissant in hand around the Paris end of Collins Street, Melbourne gazing into the windows of Tiffanys and the like. I’m all for investment pieces, and if I’m not buying a recycled or vintage piece, I like to purchase quality items that won’t date or die after two washes and end up in landfill a month later. I don’t like wasting my money on ‘fast fashion’ trends that come in and go out just as quickly. They leave you feeling constantly outdated, penniless and stuck with clothing you can’t even sell at the local trash and treasure market. I have to say there is nothing like a man in a navy and white striped top, matched with bone coloured cuffed slacks and some boat shoes (no socks). Such a sight is like stepping onto the set of Roman Holiday, ah wouldn’t that be lovely. So take my advice, if you see stripes and you are unsure (boys I’m talking to you too!) remember my little voice in the back of your head saying ‘Do it!  Say yes to chic, you will never look back and never look better!’. Parisian streets & croissants in hand, DG xx
