I’m finally back in Melbourne this week after our lovely break in Sydney…. and I have so many Sydney design highlights to share that I am planning 2 posts everyday this week! (promise!) Expect a morning post and a lunchtime one until I have exhausted the endless stream of photos…
There’ll also be a few Melbourne bits and pieces of course :)
First off… some shots from the incredible Kinokuniya bookstore in Sydney’s CBD. I could so easily lose a whole day in there! Aggghhh. It has got to be the best bookshop in Australia. Why oh why haven’t they discovered Melbourne yet?
Below some sneaky shots of the endless design section… and some ever sneakier ones of my favourite finds (now on the wish-list!).
Burley Katon Halliday from Thames and Hudson – a beautifully laid out book, full of super-click architectural eye candy. A tribute to the famed Sydney architects who designed the gorgeous Darlinghurst apartment building I stayed in last week…. (amongst many lavish Sydney buildings)
Another fab Thames and Hudson find – New London Style is full of beautiful UK homes styled in that unmistakably eclectic, kooky yet classy British way.
Just to shake up the design-focus, this fantastic-looking cookbook caught my eye on route to the design section! Ottolenghi is a recipe book by the London-based catering company of the same name.. you must check out their website for some seriously tantalising food shots! Especially delicious-looking salads…
Japanese architects Sanaa did such an amazing job of the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. This book is full of beautiful shots of the structure and the build in progress… also some fantastic shots of the very unfazed Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa of Sanaa architects, puffing on their cigarettes in their office whilst working on the project! Beautiful large scale photos on lovely matte paperstock… I love this one.
